Sale win European Shield

Man-of-the-match Pete Anglesea was delighted to lead Sale to victory in the Parker Pen Shield.

The Sharks beat Pontypridd 25-22 after over-turning a 12-point half-time deficit.

"To win a trophy for a club with a bunch of lads you are willing to die for is absolutely fantastic," he said.

"There is a great team spirit and you know every play is totally committed.

"The supporters deserve great credit too. They were heavily outnumbered in the semi-final against Gloucester and the same again here, but they make a lot of noise."
