Munster wait on players' fitness
Munster will have to wait ‘‘right up to the wire’’ before the fitness of four key players is decided for their showdown with Leicester on May 25.
With just 10 days to go before the clash at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium, Munster coach Declan Kidney has injury worries over Ireland second row Paul O’Connell and number eight Anthony Foley.
Former Wallabies flanker Jim Williams and Ireland A winger Anthony Horgan are also both doubtful.
Williams has been having treatment on a calf injury picked up against Leinster in the Guinness Inter-provincial Championship on April 19, while Foley succumbed to a shoulder injury during the first half of Munster’s Heineken Cup semi-final victory over Castres in Beziers eight days later.
Horgan has a recurrence of a shoulder problem aggravated in last Friday night’s Inter-provincial defeat to Ulster, while O’Connell damaged ankle ligaments in the same game and is the Irish side’s biggest concern.
