Carlow's comeback is not enough

UCD 44 Carlow 33

A lightning start, that saw UCD rush out to a 22-0 lead at the break,

gave them the cushion they needed to withstand a vigourous Carlow

comeback at Belfield.

Tries from Marius Venter, Brian O'Riordan and David Blaney were added to

by Eoghan Hickey's two conversions and a penalty,

It got even better after the restart with further tries from Colm Keane,

Paddy Hickie-Dwyer and Brian O'Riordan again.

Together with Hickey's sharp kicking, it meant a 41-0 deficit for Carlow.

Amazingly, the losers got themselves together to score five tries and

gain a valuable bonus point in their fight against relegation.
