Heineken Cup Rugby: Leinster in action today
After Munster’s heroics in the Heineken European Cup yesterday, it will be Leinster’s turn this afternoon to travel into unfriendly territory as they face the might of the pre-tournament favourites, Leicester.
Leinster will have to do without their Irish international second row, Malcolm O’Kelly after the IRFU refused to allow the Leinster management to select him ahead of next weekend’s Six Nations opener because he has a jaw injury.
However, Coach Matt Williams has a ready-made replacement in Bob Casey who has also been capped by Ireland and the Irish side also welcome back Eric Miller from suspension.
Other players who passed late fitness tests were Shane Horgan, Reggie Corrigan and Nathan Spooner.
Williams’ side have impressed so far this season in both the European Cup and the Celtic League but this could be their biggest test of the year with a side that includes rugby stars such as Martin Johnson, Neil Back, Austin Healy and, Irishman, Geordan Murphy.
Meanwhile, the match between Bath and Llanelli which was postponed yesterday will now go ahead following a pitch inspection.
Both games will kick-off at 3pm.
