Rugby: Kidney delays naming Munster line-up

Munster coach Declan Kidney has delayed naming his starting line-up for Saturday’s Heineken Cup quarter-final against Stade Francais in Paris.

Kidney said today it was too soon to select a team having only had the players at his disposal for three days following an Irish squad training camp in Limerick the week before.

There are particular worries over the fitness of scrum-half Peter Stringer, and backs Jeremy Staunton and Anthony Horgan.

Stringer’s broken bone in his heel has fully healed but the Irish international reported tight calf muscles on his return to training.

Horgan has a shoulder problem while Staunton was recovering from injuring his ankle in the final group game against Castres 10 days ago but on his return to jogging work the ankle started to swell again and he might not travel to France tomorrow.

Kidney has named a travelling panel of 23 players.

Munster (from): Forwards: J Hayes, M Horan, P Clohessy, M O’Driscoll, P O’Connell, M Galwey, D Wallace, J Willliams, A Quinlan, A Foley.

Backs: P Stringer, M Prendergast, D hegarty, R O’Gara, J Holland, M Mullins, R Henderson, A Horgan, J Kelly, D Crotty, J Staunton.
