AIB League: Cork Con defeat Munster rivals Shannon

Cork Constitution joined Shannon in fourth place in the AIB League First Division following a well-deserved victory over their great Munster rivals at Temple Hill.

Cork Constitution joined Shannon in fourth place in the AIB League First Division following a well-deserved victory over their great Munster rivals at Temple Hill.

They moved to within four points of leaders Garryowen with a game in hand after brothers Conor and Cian Mahony did all the Con scoring.

They led 14-6 at half-time after a try and drop-goal by centre Cian Mahony and two penalties by out-half Conor.

Tom Cregan kicked two penalties for Shannon.

In the second half Derek Hegarty crossed for a Shannon try, converted by Cregan to make it 14-13 - only for Conor Mahony to claim Con's second try which he also converted.
