AIB League: Thomond in festive mood

Thomond were in early festive mood and scored five tries in this demolition of struggling UCC.

Aidan O’Halloran for Thomond and UCC’s Conrad O’Sullivan swapped early penalties before Alan O’Donnell crashed over for the opening try, giving the home side an 8-3 half-time lead.

O’Sullivan reduced their lead with his second penalty after the interval but Thomond took control and added tries from Gene Paterson, Aidan O’Halloran, Ger Earls and Fergal Cusack.

The bonus point lifts Thomond up to mid-table in Division 2, while the students will be fighting to stay in the division following the Christmas break.
