Gloucester have switched star signing Henry Paul from centre to fly-half for Sunday’s Powergen Cup sixth round tie at Bristol.

The big-money rugby league convert takes over from Ludovic Mercier as Gloucester seek a quarter-final place.

Paul, who linked up with Gloucester from Bradford Bulls eight weeks ago, had been a permanent fixture in the No 12 jersey.

Saint-Andre has yet to finalise his team, but several of Gloucester’s young prospects will start, including full-back Jon Goodridge, wings James Simpson-Daniel and Marcel Garvey, together with flanker James Forrester.
