Terenure 11, Co Carlow 18

Carlow continued their rise through the ranks of Irish rugby with this hard-earned away win against Terenure at Lakelands Park.

Terenure absorbed early Carlow challenge and looked like they were getting to grips with the task in front of them. They led 8-7 at half-time with hooker Cormac Egan blasting over for a try and Richard Governey shooting a penalty.

Carlow were still very much in the hunt with a try from right-wing Mark Buckley, converted by centre Matt Waterhouse.

It all changed after the break. Carlow's strong set of forwards took charge of proceedings. Flanker David Cox was the man with the vital try and Waterhouse struck two more penalties to Governey's one.
