Three first-half tries inspired Blackrock to a deserved six-point win over a

depleted Shannon side at Thomond Park.

Blackrock recovered from a slow start to gain control of the game by half

time.

Winger Melvin McNamara gave Shannon the ideal start with a try after eight

minutes.

However, Blackrock hit back strongly to gain control.

Tries from Nathan Turner, Gary Browne and winger Andy O'Neill saw the

visitors into a 19-13 half-time lead.

A penalty goal from winger Conor Kilroy helped 'Rock into a nine-point

advantage 20 minutes into the second half.

Two further penalty goals from Shannon's Tom Cregan brought the home side to

within three points of 'Rock with a quarter of the game still remaining.

However, a second penalty goal from Kilroy set the seal on a deserved

Blackrock victory
