Lions: Corry clinches Lions starting spot

Martin Corry today capped a remarkable rise to Lions status when he was named in the Test team to tackle Australia in Brisbane on Saturday.

Leicester and England back-row Corry, who was flown out as a replacement for the injured Simon Taylor just over two weeks ago, packs down at blind-side flanker.

Richard Hill is chosen as open-side, with Scott Quinnell wearing the number eight jersey, meaning no place for Neil Back who fails to make the 22.

Jason Robinson is also included, gaining a Lions Test cap just seven months after switching rugby codes and full-back Matt Perry keeps out Iain Balshaw.

Lions coach Graham Henry has chosen an all-Irish midfield combination of Brian O’Driscoll and Rob Henderson, with Welshman Rob Howley winning the scrum-half battle ahead of Matt Dawson and Austin Healey.

The team consists of eight Englishmen, three Welshmen, three Irishmen and one from Scotland.
