Lions Tour: Greening ruled out of Lions Tour

Phil Greening has been officially ruled out of the Lions’ tour of Australia.

The England hooker, who suffered a knee ligament injury during training last week, will remain in Australia for treatment though, and could conceivably be used as squad cover if he regains full fitness.

The Lions had already summoned Scotland’s Gordon Bulloch to join the tour party, so will not be sending for any further hooking replacements.

Scott Quinnell, meanwhile, is out of the side to face Queensland Reds in Brisbane tomorrow. Martin Corry deputises at number eight, with Scott Murray called on to the bench.

Quinnell is suffering from fluid on the knee but is expected to be fit for next Tuesday’s appointment with Australia ‘A’.
