Rugby: Langer singled out as Warrington danger man

Bradford Bulls skipper Robbie Paul has pinpointed Allan Langer as the danger man to the Challenge Cup holders in Sunday's semi-final against Warrington.

The former Brisbane Broncos scrum-half was the shining light in Warrington's disappointing 2000 campaign.

And Langer has once more been inspirational despite the Wolves' dismal start to the new season.

Paul vividly remembers how Langer destroyed the Bulls virtually single-handedly in last year's Super League clash at Warrington, where the Wolves overturned a 30-12 interval deficit to end their visitor's 15-match unbeaten run with a 42-32 triumph.

"Alfie beat us at Wilderspool," recalled Paul. "He had his team moving around and carved us to bits.

"That was a tough day at the office. We got bashed and I expect Warrington to come out and throw everything at us on Sunday."

Sunday's tie at Huddersfield's McAlpine Stadium is a top-versus-bottom clash but Paul is urging his players to ignore the Wolves' poor League form.

"They've not had a great start. Players have left and they have had a negative press but they have nothing to lose and they have ability, which makes them a dangerous team," he said.

"Everything that's happened in the Super League so far this season you can throw away. It's not going to matter to them this week.

"We know they're not going to be the team that played against Salford."

Langer missed last Sunday's surprise 39-14 home defeat by the Reds with an ankle injury but he will be back to lead the team on Sunday.
