Rugby: Dungannon are victorious on home ground
Dungannon 22 v Cork Constitution 16
Tyrone Howe made a triumphant return to the Dungannon side, for his first AIL game of the season, grabbing the all important try which inflicted a first defeat on league leaders Cork Con.
The first half hour developed into a kicking dual betwwen the two out halfs David Humphreys hitting three Dungannon penalties and Ronan O Gara steering over two long range efforts.
Nothing much to cheer about up to that point but Cork saved the advantage when Ogara sent full back Brian Walsh in for a try.
Humphreys landed an excellent penalty to reduce the deficit Cork leading narrowly 13 - 12 at half time.
But the real tuning point came 15 mins into the second half when Howe drifted inside to pick up, kick ahead, follow up and score at the posts.
Cork threw everything onto attack in the final 15 minutes, but all they could manage was another O Gara penalty before Humphreys assured Dungannon of victory with his 6th successful kick.
