The Irish Six Nations team will have an audience with the Pope at the Vatican next Wednesday.

The Irish Six Nations team will have an audience with the Pope at the Vatican next Wednesday.

The visit to St Peter's Square will come three days before Warren Gatland's side kick off their 2001 campaign against Italy in Rome.

The visit comes four years after Brent Pope stood down as coach.
