Amongst the 22 internationals in attendance was Mick Lane, who won 17 caps for Ireland.

The 90-year-old was also part of British and Irish Lions tour of New Zealand and Australia in 1950

Also present last night were former backs Dominic Crotty and Pat Parfrey, who flew back from Wisconsin in the United States and Newfoundland in Canada respectively to attend the dinner.

Former locks Jerry Holland and Mick Leahy were at the event in UCC as were British and Irish Lions Tom Kiernan, Donal Lenihan, and Paul Wallace.

Mr Kelleher said: "Their loyalty to the college is phenomenal. They came from the States, Canada, UK and Europe to attend the event. It was a huge night for UCC Rugby.

"The common denominator is that they played for UCC at some stage in their careers and went on to play international rugby.”
