GAA stadium and commercial director Peter McKenna believes the IRFU face a difficult task to stage the 2023 Rugby World Cup in Ireland.

McKenna is wholly supportive of the bid as he sees everyone, including the GAA, benefiting greatly from the proposal.

However, he is taking nothing for granted in recognition of what the IRFU are up against. “It’s very advantageous potentially but the criteria for this bidding process is very rigorous. They have their work cut out with South Africa, Argentina and Italy.
