O’Driscoll nominated for player accolade

Brian O’Driscoll is in line for one more piece of rugby silverware.

The legendary centre is one of six Irishmen on the shortlist for RBS 6 Nations Player of the Championship.

O’Driscoll will be battling it out for the honour along with Cian Healy, Jamie Heaslip, Rob Kearney, Jonathan Sexton and Andrew Trimble.

England have Mike Brown, Danny Care, Owen Farrell and Chris Robshaw on the list. The group is completed by Wales back-row pair Sam Warburton and Taulupe Faletau, Scotland number eight David Denton, French backs Brice Dulin and Yoann Huget, plus Italy hooker Leonardo Ghiraldini. Players have been nominated via a points-scoring system covering a number of different performance categories, and the winner will be decided by public vote. Voting closes at midnight tomorrow.
