Munster are confident captain Peter O’Mahony will be fit to lead the province into the new Heineken Cup campaign on Saturday against Edinburgh at Murrayfield.

O’Mahony was withdrawn at half-time from Munster’s RaboDirect Pro12 showdown with Leinster at Thomond Park, having received a knee to the head while tackling Sean Cronin several minutes earlier.

The back-rower’s substitution was as a precaution with head coach Rob Penney stressing after the match his captain was showing no ill effects from the accidental blow.
