Jackman and Prendergast have last laugh in Paris

The battle of Ireland’s rugby exports to France went the way of Bernard Jackman and Mike Prendergast on Saturday.

The Grenoble coaches faced up to Jonny Sexton and Ronan O’Gara’s Racing Metro and came away with a 22-20 victory in Paris. Sexton kicked 15 points for the hosts and had edged his side into a 9-6 half-time lead.

However, he was up against former Belvedere College and Leinster U20 out-half James Hart who scored a try, a conversion and kicked a penalty. Racing fired back into the contest with a try from Andreu but Hart’s replacement, Valentin Courrent, caused the shock of the weekend when he converted a 79th-minute penalty.
