Munster confirm Van den Heever capture
The South African has played with the Stormers in Super Rugby for the last two years, following several seasons with the Blue Bulls.
Van den Heever has spent the majority of his career on the wing, but Munster coach Rob Penney says the 24-year-old “is a young guy that is capable of playing in multiple positions”. At 6ft 3ins and close to 100kg, van den Heever poses a physical threat, and alongside his searing pace will add something different to Munster’s outside backs.
Penney said Munster are “very happy to have him coming to us”.
Van den Heever also expressed his pleasure at completing the deal: “I am looking forward to joining Munster and I am humbled by the trust shown in my character and ability to be granted the honour of becoming part of the Munster way of life.”
Van den Heever won a Super Rugby title with the Blues Bulls in 2010, and also has two Currie Cup winners’ medals. He has played a total of 57 games in Super Rugby, scoring 14 tries.
