Connacht lose their way

The former Scotland fly-half booted the Galway outfit into an early lead but the Dragons fought back and dominated the scoreboard as both sides failed to cope with the driving rain and were undone by errors as aerial ping-pong prevailed.

The Dragons levelled through Tom Prydie after Jason Harris-Wright was sent to the sin-bin after interfering at the breakdown.

Matters were made worse for Connacht when Andrew Browne joined the hooker in the sin-bin just two minutes later. The colossal flanker was adjudged to have been over-zealous with the boot and was shown yellow.

Prydie failed to punish the indiscretion but the pressure eventual told and, after dominating the closing stages of the half, Leach slid over to hand his side a 8-3 lead at the break.

Prydie quickly got the scoreboard ticking again following the break. Connacht fought back in the closing stages but the Dragons weathered the storm and Eric Elwood left south Wales empty-handed.
