Ulster escape again

Leading by just a point as the game entered its dying embers at the Stadio di Monigo, the league leaders seemed set for their first defeat of the season when Treviso were awarded a relatively straightforward penalty.
To the dismay of the long-suffering home crowd, however, the normally accurate Alberto Di Bernardo scuffed his lines, letting Ulster off the hook, just as Zebre had done in Parma the week before.
And whilst coach Mark Anscombe was relieved to get out of jail once again, he was nevertheless concerned with another disappointing performance by his troops.
“It’s certainly worrying... if we continue to play like that, it won’t be long before we start getting our arses kicked,” he said.
