Ireland bid to end hoodoo

Ireland bid to defeat England at the third time of asking this season when the sides faces off in the IRB Junior World Championship fifth place play-off in Western Cape Stadium tomorrow (4pm, Irish time).

Ireland bid to end hoodoo

England ruined Ireland’s Grand Slam dreams in the Six Nations and also claimed the spoils when the countries met in the pool stages of this competition in Stellenbosch last week.

The Irish management have made a number of changes to the side that defeated Italy 41-12 for tomorrow’s clash.

Peter Nelson is named at full back while Barry Daly joins Foster Horan on the wing. Stuart Olding makes his first start of the tournament joining Chris Farrell in the centre while JJ Hanrahan and Kieran Marmion return to the opening XV at out-half and scrum-half.

Captain Niall Scannell partners Tadhg Furlong in the front row while Iain Henderson, Jack Conan and Jordan Coghlan start in the back row. The game will be live on TG4.
