Injured O’Driscoll shows his tough side

Leinster centre Brian O’Driscoll ruptured stitches in his knee during Saturday’s Heineken Cup victory over Ulster.

Injured O’Driscoll shows his tough side

O’Driscoll underwent keyhole surgery on the joint a week earlier in his battle to be fit for the Twickenham decider. After 67 minutes, Leinster fans, and the Irish management team, feared the worst when they saw their talisman leave the fray. But the Ireland skipper made a speedy return after receiving running repairs to stop the bleeding.

“I thought he was going off as well and not coming back, in fact I was hoping he wasn’t coming back because I presumed his knee was acting up,” Brian’s father Frank told the Marian Finucane Show on RTÉ Radio 1. “Ironically though the wound from his arthroscopy that he had last week opened and he had to go off with a blood injury. So he got that strapped up and came back right as rain.”
