Chris Henry is confident he will be fit for next Saturday’s Heineken Cup final against Leinster at Twickenham.

Henry, named Ulster Player of the Year on Thursday, missed the semi-final win over Edinburgh with an ankle injury sustained, ironically, against next week’s opponents.But the 28-year-old has revealed: “I feel confident I’ll be ready in time. I travelled with the squad to Portugal earlier this week and although I trained by myself most of the time with some of the backroom staff, everything came on really well. With another week to go before the game I will get myself right up to speed and will be throwing my hat into the ring for selection.

Meanwhile, Ulster will are due to confirm the return of Ireland A fly-half Niall O’Connor to Ravenhill. The 24-year-old from Limavady moved to Connacht on a two-year deal at the start of the current season, but has negotiated a return to his home province.
