Afoa faces semi-final sweat after ERC citing for tackle

Ulster prop John Afoa has been cited for a dangerous tackle on Munster full-back Felix Jones in Sunday’s Heineken Cup quarter-final at Thomond Park.

Afoa faces semi-final sweat after ERC citing for tackle

Citing Commissioner Peter Larter of England deemed a second-half incident worthy of further examination as it may be in contravention of Law 10.4 (j): “Lifting a player from the ground and either dropping or driving that player’s head and/or upper body into the ground whilst the player’s feet are off the ground.”

Jean-Nöel Couraud (France) will hear the complaint in Dublin tomorrow.

If upheld the minimum penalty is a three-week ban, which would rule the player out of the Heineken Cup semi-final against Edinburgh.
