Tokula comes to Reds’ rescue

Munster have announced a new signing to replace outgoing centre Will Chambers after former Waikato and Chiefs outside centre/wing Save Tokula signed a contract to remain for the rest of the current season.

With injuries to Tom Gleeson (shoulder) and Troy Smith, the 26-year-old Fijian should get plenty of game-time in the weeks ahead. Tokula was a member of the New Zealand 7’s squad in 2009 and 2010 and played 36 times for Waikato since making his debut against Wellington in 2008 and last season played Super 15 rugby with the Chiefs.

He is expected to arrive in Ireland over the coming weekend.

Meanwhile, Munster’s former Canterbury prop forward Peter Borlase is on his way to Connacht to secure first team rugby.

Borlase has not been involved in RaboDirect Pro12 rugby so far this season and competition rules allow for such an arrangement.
