Ardscoil Rís battle hard to keep gritty Glenstal at bay
Ardscoil enjoyed a three-point advantage entering the final quarter but had to be at their most resilient to resist a series of Glenstal attacks. However, the siege was lifted when Ardscoil number eight Shane Fenton intercepted a pass 40 metres out and scored between the Glenstal posts and David O’Mahony converted.
A 17-7 score line certainly flattered Ardscoil. They took the lead on nine minutes when winger Lloyd White finished off a fine movement in which Paul McNamara played a leading role. David O’Mahony converted and landed a fine penalty from near the right touch line in the 18th minute to push Ardscoil ten points clear.
