Lively Linehan guides Castletroy past Clement’s

Castletroy College scored the crucial only try to claim the spoils in yesterday’s Avonmore Milk Munster Schools Junior Cup qualifier at a drenched Rosbrien.

Fittingly the outstanding fly-half for the winners, Conor Linehan, was involved in the try and it was his pass that sent prop Eoin Fitzgerald over five minutes from the end as the conditions deteriorated rapidly in the torrential rain and strong wind. Linehan converted to add to the two penalties he put over, one in each half.

St Clement’s had the opening points, a penalty by Conor Redmond, after 10 minutes but once Linehan tied it up with a superb kick from 35 yards into the wind after 26 minutes Castletroy had the edge.
