Top specialist to assess Leamy injury

DENIS LEAMY will have a troublesome hip injury assessed by a top London based specialist today.

Leamy has struggled with the complaint in recent months and was ruled out of the RaboDirect Pro12 clash with Ulster last week because of the problem.

The Irish international has flown to England in a bid to resolve the issue and return to action. His unavailability for this weekend’s RaboDirect Pro12 tie with Treviso at Thomond Park, and the likelihood he will also miss the next stage of the Heineken Cup is stretching Munster’s resources, although coach Tony McGahan will be encouraged by the return of Peter O’Mahony.

MUNSTER SQUAD: Forwards: M Horan, S Archer, J Ryan, W du Preez, BJ Botha, D Varley, D Fogarty, D Ryan, P O’Connell, D O’Callaghan, I Nagle, M O’Driscoll, P O’Mahony, N Ronan, B Holland, D O’Callaghan, P Butler, J Coughlan.

Backs: D Hurley, J Murphy, W Chambers, D Barnes, K Earls, L Mafi, S Zebo, I Keatley, R O’Gara, D Williams, C Murray, T O’Leary.

Not available due to injury: T Gleeson (shoulder); T O’Donnell (knee); L O’Dea (ankle); D Leamy (hip); D Cusack (shoulder); D Wallace (knee); T Smith (knee); F Jones (foot); J Flannery (calf), D Howlett (Achilles); D Hurley (back), M Sherry (ankle).
