Orquera kicks Aironi to victory
The fly-half successfully slotted nine penalties, with the first coming two minutes into the match and the second five minutes from time.
It was Aironi’s second win in 11 matches in the competition to date but not enough to lift them off bottom spot.
Mauro Bergamasco was playing his first game for Aironi and it was only the club’s second win of the season. The Italy international signed for the club at the start of the month but has spent the last few weeks returning to fitness after spending a month without a club after the World Cup.
Treviso were unable to keep pressure on the top five and looked in line for a heavy defeat as they mustered just two Willem de Waal penalties in the first 72 minutes.
But a period of pressure eventually gave a more respectable feel to the score, with a penalty try awarded against the hosts which Alberto Di Bernardo converted.
The sides meet again on New Year’s Eve at the Stadio Monigo, where Treviso will look to gain some revenge on home soil.
