Blackrock ace Carroll won’t appeal 12 month ban for doping violation

A TOP All-Ireland League rugby player will not appeal the 12 month ban he received for a doping violation.

Michael Carroll (Blackrock College) tested positive for methylhexaneamine (MHA) after the Division 1A match against Clontarf at Stradbrook on October 1.

The 30-year-old, who had stints with Connacht and Racing Métro 92, inadvertently ingested the banned substance, contained in an energy drink “1 More Rep” and accepted full responsibility for his actions.
