Contepomi hoping for better fortune
Last weekend, the Argentinian star, who joined the club from Toulon, took a knock to the head in the Top 14 game against Toulouse, and it affected his judgment as he made a nightmare error.
In an exciting finale his forwards drove it up the pitch, needing a converted try get the win with the score reading 18-12.
Amazingly Contepomi fell back into the pocket and instead of setting up an attack he slotted a drop goal.
Running back down the pitch he signalled his joy with a fist pump to the sideline but a look of pure horror from the coaching staff and his team-mates forced him to look at the scoreboard.
By the time he had realised his error, the fulltime whistle went, and Toulouse won the game 18-15.
“I couldn’t believe it when I saw him sitting in the pocket.
“I thought they had some special move planned,” chuckled Toulouse opposing out-half Luke McAllister.
It was even more frustrating for Stade as they had not won in the last six visits to Toulouse. Contepomi later admitted he had miscalculated the score and thought that they only required two points to take the win.
