More woe as Manu overboard

ENGLAND rugby star Manu Tuilagi heaped further embarrassment on his team's poor World Cup campaign early today after jumping from a ferry.

Tuilagi was reportedly detained by police after the incident in Auckland following England's quarter-final defeat to France.

Tuilagi is understood to have jumped from the ferry on its arrival at Waiheke Island at around 7pm local time.

He swam a short distance to a pier before being picked up by cops and taken to Auckland Central police station.

He received a formal warning over disorderly conduct and was then released to the England team management.

Earlier this month, Tuilagi was fined for wearing an unapproved mouthguard carrying the name of a sponsor.

Meanwhile Toby Flood conceded England deserved to be dumped out of the World Cup. “It’s just shocking that we are going home but we don’t deserve to be here because ultimately we didn’t stand up to be accountable. We can’t hide behind a facade — we are incredibly frustrated and disappointed. It’s important we realise that, in these games, we have to engage our brains and engage our bodies.”
