Contepomi: Hard work starts now
Contepomi claimed 13 points and Juan Jose Imhoff and Agustin Gosio also scored tries as the Pumas advanced as Pool B runners-up behind England and ahead of Scotland, who now return home before the knockout stages for the first time in World Cup history.
“Okay, we won, but I think we have a lot to do in the next week,” Contepomi said.
“We are thrilled we went through but now we have to work hard.
“We have to rest now and start analysing the All Blacks and try to see their weakest points, if they have any.
“But hopefully it will be a good game and we can be competitive on the day.”
Scotland needed Georgia to win by eight points or more to advance at Argentina’s expense, but Lasha Khmaladze’s converted first-half try was all former Scotland head coach Richie Dixon’s side could muster.
Contepomi was pleased with his side’s response to trailing 7-5 at half-time.
The Stade Francais back added: “Georgia played really well. We couldn’t score when we had to.
“Georgia played a really good game and they put us to the limit.
“We tried to improve our game. Thankfully we scored some tries.”
