New blow to Munster Senior Cup as ’Well pull out

ONCE regarded as the biggest prize in provincial club rugby, the ODM Munster Senior Cup has been hit by the inability of another club to fulfil a fixture.

Sunday’s Well are just one of a number of clubs ill-prepared for an early start to this year’s tournament and their match with Cashel, due to be played tonight, has been cancelled, with the Tipperary club given a bye into the next round.

Yesterday, Sunday’s Well chairman Michael Collopy admitted to being disappointed at the outcome but pointed out: “The club was not in a position to go ahead with the fixture this early in the season for a variety of reasons; injuries, players being on holidays and the unavailability of other players.
