Deans’ dilemma for Wallabies
With less than a fortnight until the Wallabies begin their campaign with a pool match against Italy, the make-up of Australia’s first-choice starting 15 remains unclear.
The three promoted to start in the 25-20 victory – Anthony Faingaa, Radike Samo and Dan Vickerman – all had outstanding games and were vital to lifting the prestigious trophy for the first time since 2001.
However, coach Robbie Deans said that Saturday night’s win over the defending Tri Nations champions would be cherished and well celebrated, but he made it clear his side would not be allowing the win be the spark for any complacency within his squad.
