Irish Examiner backs awards night
The event unites the domestic and professional elements of the game and is a celebration of rugby in the province at all levels.
Held on the same night Munster take on Connacht in the final round game of the Magners League, guests will be able to watch the match afterwards while all funds raised will go towards the running of and development of the Munster Rugby Academy.
“We are very pleased that the Irish Examiner have extended their sponsorship of the Munster Rugby Awards for the fifth year and are grateful to (sports editor) Tony (Leen) and his team for their support,” said Garrett Fitzgerald, Munster Rugby CEO.
“The purpose of the awards is to recognise individual performance in rugby in Munster, as well as the achievements of clubs and schools both on and off the pitch. With 11 diverse categories being honoured, ranging from Munster player, young player and academy player of the year including women’s rugby, referees, schools and clubs.”
Irish Examiner sports editor Tony Leen was delighted to work with Munster rugby on the awards.
He said: “The Irish Examiner’s continued support for the Munster Rugby Awards is a reflection of our own passion and commitment to rugby at all levels, from international to underage and to the all-important junior ranks.”
In addition, the Irish Examiner will be running a competition in the build up to the awards, asking their readers to vote for Munster’s player of the year.
Prizes include tickets to the event as well as the chance for a class to tour Thomond Park Stadium.
A table of 10 costs €1,950, including match tickets, and can be booked by contacting Brian Cheasty on 086 0446440 or briancheasty@munsterrugby.ie on email.
