Ulster say ‘yes’ to McLaughlin

ULSTER head coach Brian McLaughlin has agreed a new contract which will see him remain at Ravenhill until the end of the 2012 season at least.

The former Ireland assistant coach was due to return to his teaching post at the Royal Belfast Academical Institution (RBAI) at the end of August but has decided to accept a new deal. He has now stepped down from RBAI, with the board of governors accepting his resignation.

“I feel I have some unfinished business at Ulster,” explained McLaughlin. “We are where we want to be at present. We set out goals at the start of the season, and so far we have more or less achieved those. There is no doubt we have, apart from a few blips, had a very good season, and I’m very hopeful that we can go further.

“I’m very excited with the players we have and the additions which will be with us next season.

“Also, there are some very talented young players coming through the ranks and things look very bright for Ulster.”
