ON a day when the positive news centred around the availability of Eoin Reddan for today’s RBS 6 Nations finale at the Aviva Stadium, Ireland believe they can overwhelm an English side riding on the crest of a wave.

Come what may, there will be no crock of gold at the end of the rainbow for Ireland but a victory over a nation everyone always wants to beat might just kick-start their World Cup challenge after the mixed emotions of a disappointing autumn and spring.

At least, that’s the way coach Declan Kidney and captain Brian O’Driscoll see it, the skipper being particularly keen to put an end to the suggestion that this Irish team are a bunch of under-achievers.
