Millennium ball boy is internet hero

The internet was buzzing yesterday with talk of the mystery ball boy who unwittingly cued up Matthew Rees for the dubious quick throw-in that led to Wales’ winning try.

One thread on rugby forum ScumV was titled, “all hail the ball boy”, while messages on Twitter joked about giving the lad the freedom of the city.

Weldon Davies, the man in charge of the Millennium Stadium’s ball boys, said even he was not sure which boy had been involved.

“We did what we are told, which is to get the ball into play as quickly as possible.”
