SOME of Declan Kidney’s players have become the latest sports stars to be burnt by their fondness for Twitter.

Unlike so many other athletes the world over, Ireland’s rugby players have not fallen foul of the social networking site because of something they said but rather for their performances on the pitch.

Brian O’Driscoll, Tommy Bowe, Jamie Heaslip and Cian Healy are all avid users of the popular service and had to scroll through a barrage of negative comments following Ireland’s narrow three-point win over Scotland on Sunday.
