Another operation for Kearney

THE bad news continues for Declan Kidney when he learned full-back Rob Kearney is to undergo another operation today in an effort to clear up a long-standing knee problem.

Already ruled out for the duration of the Six Nations as a result of the knock picked up against New Zealand in the autumn internationals, Kearney tweeted last night that he was to go under the knife again at 7am this morning.

The Lion added: “Hopefully I’ll get good news and be given the all-clear to get back on the field again. Fingers ‘n toes crossed!”

While Kidney knew he had to plan without Kearney for the spring, Leinster coach Joe Schmidt will be concerned about Kearney’s availability for the Heineken Cup quarter-final against Leicester, on April 9.
