Delaney the Crosshaven hero

LIAM DELANEY kicked Crosshaven into an All-Ireland Junior Cup final with Monivea after this tense last four tie in Cork on Saturday.

Sligo with wind advantage, dominated in the opening half, and were rewarded with a JordanFarrington try on the half hour mark. The hosts stormed out on the restart with Delaney landing a drop goal after nine minutes. But Sligo, on the verge of winning the Connacht Junior League and a place in the All-Ireland Ulster Bank League next season, battened down the hatches as they clung to their lead. But Crosshaven refused to give up and with Ross O’Connell leading by example the pack drove on and set up a drop goal attempt for Delaney who coolly slotted between the posts to secure victory.

CROSSHAVEN:C McGovern; R Rogers, R O’Connell, A Lane, D O’Keeffe; L Delaney, P Cogan; B Murphy, R Hofler, J Grey; M O’Connell, D O’Shea; M Buckley, R Barry, E Ring.
