As Operations Director at Ravenhill, David Humphreys was one of the men responsible for shelling out many thousands of pounds to import the prime South African beef which Ulster felt was needed to broaden their European horizons.

Much of it has been money well spent but the fact is that the man responsible for keeping alive their hopes of a first Heineken quarter-final in a dozen years grew up under his nose in the same house.
