CALEB POWELL has been installed as the 123rd president of the Irish Rugby Football Union.

A native of Nenagh, Tipperary, the retired deputy head of the King’s Hospital School has had a distinguished career as a player, coach and administrator.

The Lansdowne FC member has been on the IRFU committee since 1998 and is particularly well known for his immense contribution to the schools game.

Educated at the King’s Hospital, Dublin University and London University, Powell was a second row forward with Nenagh Ormond, UL Bohemian, Dublin University and Lansdowne. He won Munster Senior Cup medals with Bohemians in 1957 and 1958 and captained Lansdowne to their Leinster Senior Cup victory in 1965. He was capped for Munster during the interpros in 1962.
