Elwood drafts in young duo

CONNACHT coach Eric Elwood has strengthened his squad with the acquisition of two promising young backs.

Shane Monahan was a member of the Irish U-20 side which captured a Six Nations grand slam under the guidance of Elwood and his assistant Dan McFarland three years ago. And Darragh Fanning’s superb form for St Mary’s College has been recognised with the 23-year-old winger putting pen to paper as he heads to the Sportsground for next season.

Connacht manager Tim Allnutt said that the pair would be a big addition to the squad. “We are delighted that they are coming on board,” he said.
