Wright citing worries Leinster

LEINSTER are hopeful that an Irish Rugby Football Union disciplinary panel will find no reason to impose a period of suspension on prop Stanley Wright arising out of a citing emanating from the Magners League semi-final against Munster at the RDS.

Wright citing worries Leinster

Wright has been cited under law 10. 4 (A) for an alleged punch on Alan Quinlan in the 25th minute of the game. The Cook Islander played an important part in his side’s set piece supremacy, leaving coach Michael Cheika to later admit that he faced a selection dilemma when it came to naming his side to meet Ospreys in the final at the RDS on Saturday week.

Cheika will pick from a quartet of outstanding props – Wright, Cian Healy, C. J. van der Linde and Mike Ross. Munster back-row forward Nick Williams was also cited arising out of an incident in the same game but in his case any suspension would hardly matter given that his team’s season is over and he has been released by the province.

The complaint against the New Zealander centres on an alleged stamp on Leinster’s Jonathan Sexton in the 20th minute of the game.

The hearings will take place in the Ulster Branch offices in Ravenhilloffice at 2.30pm (Williams) and 4pm (Wright) today.

The IRFU panel will consist of Hugh Logan (Chair) and he will be assisted by Stephen Hilditch and Neil Jackson.

The findings of the disciplinary panel will be released following the completion of the hearings.
