Cork Con claim honourable draw in cup row
The branch say the parties have now resolved their differences, after an unseemly disagreement over Cork Con’s inability to field a team for their semi-final clash with Young Munster.
A branch statement read: “The Munster Branch have acknowledged that Cork Con did not refuse to play the ODM Munster Senior Cup semi-final but were unable to field a team on that date due to the fixture clashing with an Irish international club game, an Irish U-20 game, a Munster A game and injuries to key front row forwards.
“The officers of the Munster Branch accept that Cork Con had a right to object to the decision of the officers of the Munster Branch to forfeit the match.
“However, the officers of the Munster Branch and Cork Constitution have now resolved all issues surrounding the matter, and Con are satisfied to allow the final to take place as soon as possible.”
A date is likely to be fixed today.
